Hey Seniors, can’t believe we are almost to the half way mark of your senior year. Here are some things you need to take care of if you haven’t already.
1. Complete FAFSA
2. Narrow down and apply to the schools you see as your final choice for fall and make sure they also have your transcript and test scores. Please comment, email, or message me if you need one sent somewhere.
3. Check with schools and make sure they have everything they need because December 1st is the cut off for academic scholarships meaning if you have a new or better ACT score you want them to consider they will need it before then. Otherwise your award will be based upon the transcript and scores they have currently.
4. Place your orders for Caps and gowns. This can only be done on Jostens website, by calling 1-800-Jostens, or mail in order form. I have additional order forms in my office.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

164 advanced placement exam orders were placed for May testing! That's 164 opportunities for our students to earn college credit--almost 500 hours of course credit. 100 of these exams can result in the kids earning $300 extra KEES dollars that will shave down their college tuition bill EACH YEAR they're in school--that's up to $30,000 for our students every single year! Our kids made a fabulous decision to take their AP exams this spring; a decision that can benefit them for years to come. #MoreOpportunity #HailJC

With the release of JCHS test scores today, we have a lot to celebrate, and we would like to share our biggest gains and accomplishments!
- First, Johnson Central currently has over 300 students on track to earn an Honor’s Diploma (10 Pre-AP/AP/Dual Credit), and of these students who were tested last year, we are proud to announce that our Honor’s Diploma students earned an astounding overall index of 98.5, which is a 5-star performance based on new accountability system. GREAT JOB!
- Second, we are also proud that our junior Honor’s Diploma students (a whopping 60 junior students in this program) averaged a 24.4 on the ACT last year.
- Third, our transition readiness rate, which is the most important factor for students leaving high school and planning to pursue higher education, improved from 45.9 to 71.1 – a gain of approximately 26% in one year. Transition readiness is calculated by examining whether students earn college benchmarks or pass career readiness and industry certification exams.
- Fourth, our on-demand scores were up significantly as we had 144 students whose writings were scored either Distinguished or Proficient.
- Lastly, our graduation rate was up to 96.7%
We at JCHS are extremely proud of our students, staff, and the multitude of programs we offer. We look forward to another great year and even more success from our students.

This school year I am most excited about empowering my students to appreciate math, celebrating their “wins” in and out of the classroom, and creating classroom engagement that will cultivate this appreciation and success!
