Empowering Communities: Johnson County Middle School's Academy Brings Together Parents, Teachers, Students, and Community

Johnson County Middle School's Parent/Community EMPOWER Academy was an exceptional success, drawing an enthusiastic turnout of students, parents, teachers, and community members. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Principal Sharon Davis and the Leader In Me Student Lighthouse Team, setting a positive tone for the evening. Eager student leaders graciously guided campus tours, offering attendees a firsthand experience of the school's environment.

Throughout the gymnasium, informative stations were thoughtfully arranged, covering essential topics such as transportation, Chromebooks, parent/guardian Positive Action registration, Family Resource Youth Services Center, Morehead Talent Search, Rooms/Apptegy communication, and a dedicated parent portal/registration station. These stations provided valuable insights and resources to parents and visitors.

The generous support of ARH enhanced the event's enjoyment, with fruit trays, vegetable trays, and water provided for all to enjoy. The presence of the Morehead Talent Search brought added value to the occasion.

Ten 8th-grade members from the Student Council/Lighthouse Team impressed parents with their discussions about the 7 Habits and enthusiastically led school tours, creating an engaging and insightful experience for all attendees.

The EMPOWER Academy's remarkable success resulted from collaborative efforts from approximately 40 dedicated teachers, administrators, faculty/staff, over 120 enthusiastic parents, students, and community members unwavering support of the Johnson County School District, Johnson County Middle School,  ARH and the Full-Service Community Schools Grant also played a vital role in making this event possible.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in making the JCMS Parent/Community EMPOWER Academy an inspiring and meaningful experience. The collective effort contributed to fostering a stronger and more connected school community.
