Johnson County Superintendent Thom Cochran joined KASS Executive Director Jim Flynn, Rockcastle County Superintendent Carrie Ballinger, and Fleming County Superintendent Brian Creasman in presenting on Innovations in Kentucky Education to the Interim Joint Committee on Education about the innovative work happening in Kentucky schools.  Discussed during the testimony were the roadblocks to this work and the policy environment that will help make these kinds of innovations the norm thereby expanding student personalization and choice options within the public schools. We will emphasize how this work can be aligned to federal, state, and local accountability. We will also make a case for innovations in alternative placements to leverage the options provided with the passage of HB568 last session. This was an exciting opportunity to begin the conversation with policymakers about these issues.
