Eastern KY TeachMeet Brings Together 230 Educators from 13 Counties at Johnson County School District
Hager Hill, KY — July 24, 2024 — On July 14, educators from across Eastern Kentucky gathered at Porter Elementary in Hager Hill for the 2025 Eastern KY TeachMeet—a powerful day of collaboration, hands-on learning, and innovation. Hosted by Porter Elementary and the Johnson County School District, this year’s event welcomed 230 educators representing 13 counties, highlighting the power of educators coming together to share, learn, and grow across district lines.
As a Leader In Me School District, Johnson County School District believes in the strength of Synergizing—bringing people together for a common purpose. The Eastern KY TeachMeet reflected this collaborative spirit in action, with educators, students, and community partners working side by side to elevate teaching and learning throughout the region.
The event featured over 45 breakout sessions focused on instructional strategies, high-quality resources, and educational technology. An exciting feature of the day was the interactive exhibit from Jarred Gibson, his team, and Verizon Innovative Learning, which included 3-D printers, robotics, virtual reality, and free course opportunities for educators.
The success of the event was made possible through the contributions of many:
Superintendent Thom Cochran for his continued support of educators and innovation
Principal Ashley Lemaster and the faculty/staff of Porter Elementary, including the custodial team, for outstanding hospitality
Porter PTO for serving lunch and refreshments
Porter Elementary’s Newscast Team and student leaders for welcoming, assisting guests, and presenting
