Johnson County School District
October 16, 2025
This year marked a defining milestone for Johnson County Schools — the groundbreaking of the new Johnson Central High School and Career & Technical Center. This achievement reflects the shared vision, dedication, and hard work of Johnson County Board of Education Chairman Bob Hutchison, Board members, school and district leadership teams, staff, community partners, and retired employees who helped bring this dream to life. Superintendent Thom Cochran’s leadership and commitment to progress, innovation, and opportunity continue to unite and inspire these collective efforts across the district.
Superintendent Cochran’s leadership extends beyond Johnson County, representing our district on numerous state and regional boards. He currently serves as KASA Vice President and Vice President of the Council for Better Education (CBE), as well as a member of the KASS Board of Directors, KEDC Executive Board, Superintendent’s Advisory Council, and Local Superintendent’s Advisory Council to the Commissioner (LSAC). These roles highlight his strong voice for public education and his ongoing work to advance opportunities for all Kentucky students.
Under his leadership, Johnson County Schools continues to strengthen instruction and engagement through district-wide Kagan implementation and the use of High-Quality Instructional Resources (HQIRs) that ensure consistency, equity, and excellence in every classroom.
These efforts, along with initiatives such as student board members, Community School Coordinators/Instructional Coaches, Read to Succeed Facilitators, SEL/RTI Specialists, and district-wide Leader in Me implementation, have created a culture where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Today, we celebrate a leader who listens, inspires, and leads with vision and heart — uniting people around a shared mission to serve students, families, and the community.
Thank you, Superintendent Cochran, for your unwavering leadership and for ensuring every Golden Eagle can Love, Learn, Lead, and Leave a Legacy.
