JCHS Seniors Ryan Rice and Grace Blackburn earned the honor of being named STLP Engineers and are currently serving at the KYSTE conference in Louisville. They are representing the Johnson County School District well! The STLP Engineer/Ambassador is an outstanding student leader in the utilization of technology to design, create, and collaborate to solve complicated technical issues. While STLP Engineers/Ambassadors are highly technical, they are also intrinsically motivated and contain interpersonal skills necessary to demonstrate advanced leadership, while also recognizing the importance of being a life-long learner.

Congratulations to our Criminal Justice students. They have completed all required ICS trainings, courses, and certifications. ICS, or Incident Command Systems, is training and testing set up by the federal government through FEMA. Students learn about rank structure, chain of command, local and federal resources and processes, logistics, and strategic planning. ICS training could benefit an employee in any incident. ICS principles are used many different scenarios including simple traffic accidents, chemical spills, natural disasters, or terrorist attacks.

JCHS would like to congratulate sophomore Adara Campell! Adara has been awarded a spot in the 2024 Rogers Scholars program. Rogers Scholars is a competitive program aimed at building leadership, business sense, and work ethic in the youth of Southern and Eastern Kentucky. Only sixty students are selected to attend each year, and since the program's inception in 1998, over $11 million dollars in scholarships have been awarded. Way to go Adara! Rogers Scholars accepts one student in each of The Center for Rural Development's forty -five county service area and 15 at large out of a typical pool of 400 applicants. JCHS was awarded two of those sixty very competitive positions. We are so proud of Adara and Connor!
