Congratulations to freshman Ava June Pennington! She is the winner of the KY Civics Bee and will represent the bluegrass state at the National Civics Bee in Washington DC. JCHS is proud of you Ava June!
The ASVAB will be given September 18th at 9am. Any interested 10th-12th grader should see Ms. Austin to register. This exam is free of charge.
Any 9-11th grader who would like to take the PSAT/NMSQT should see Ms. Austin in the library. Registration fees are 20.00 and must be paid prior to September 3rd. PSAT scores are used for the National Merit Scholarship as well as several other scholarships. The PSAT will be given Wednesday October 23rd during school.
Anyone interested in auditioning for Elf Jr. should join the Google Classroom (st3psqr). Auditions are Thursday, September 5th in Pool Building Rm 4. See Ms. Warne for details!

The state is offering seniors one last chance for a free ACT. The exam will be given Wednesday, Oct 16th at 8am. To sign up to take the exam, see Ms. Austin in the library (you may also email). Deadline to register is August 23rd. This is an excellent opportunity for you to increase those scholarship dollars!

On Friday, JCHS teachers participated in Day 2 of Kagan Cooperative Learning Training. They were up on their feet, participating in engagement strategies to use with students. The focus of Kagan Cooperative Learning is to replace the traditional "calling on one," and engage all students in academic discussion and social skills. We are excited for the relationship building and student engagement that Kagan will bring to our school.
We are one week from the start of school! We would love to start our back to school countdown by celebrating our Seniors who have achieved Postsecondary Readiness and College Readiness! These students are entering their last year of HS prepared and ready for whatever comes next. JCHS is proud of you!
