Mrs. Jarrell's 1st graders had an awesome first week back! So much fun that we forgot to take pictures, but we did manage a few. Students shared their All About Me projects using the Kagan structure Traveling Pair Share and learned all about 'The Power of YET' with Gerald the Giraffe! It's going to be an amazing year!

One final post for our P.A.W.S summer camp program. I would like to thank all our camp staff for their hard work. I would like to thank the many community partners who came in and did such inviting, informative, and engaging presentations for our panthers. We sincerely hope our panthers enjoyed their time with us because we enjoyed our time with you. We hope they have a great summer. Don't forget that our afterschool program will be back next school year. Parents look for those parent registration forms on our school Facebook page after school begins. We also hope our panthers will again join us next year for our P.A.W.S summer camp. Panthers be safe, enjoy your summer. We love you!!! GO PANTHERS!!!

We would like to thank our bus drivers for the trip to the Newport Aquarium, Jim and Harvey, our parent/friends chaperones, Jenifer her cafeteria staff for fixing our bag lunch and many others for helping us with our final field trip of this year's summer camp.

We would like to thank Symantha Capetian with guest relations at the Newport Aquarium along with her wonderful staff and the cook staff from Sharkey's for making sure our Panther campers had a delicious meal will at the aquarium. They went above and beyond to make our kiddos feel special. We would also like to thank Newby Walters, Director Business Development, with Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects of Lexington for paying for our campers evening meal.

The pictures are a little late but I just wanted to share Porter's last field trip for our summer camp. The kids had an absolute blast from the Mermaids to the penguins and much more!!!

We have now went through Salyersville and turned on to 460. We are getting closer to Porter. Estimated arrival time is between 20 and 25 minutes.

We have taken a bathroom break at the Natural Bridge Rest Area. We are now back on the parkway and headed back to Porter.

Just letting our parents know that we are in Lexington. We will take a quick bathroom break at the Natural Bridge Rest Area and then continue on toward Porter Elementary. Our GPS is estimating our arrival at school to be between 7:30 and 8:00 pm.

Just letting our Parents know that we have just left the Newport Aquarium.

We would like to thank the Johnson County Library for being with us today and sharing some engaging STEM activities after our weekly story time. Our Panthers were very busy today.

Not only did our panthers make Gluep but they also made a Living Seed Necklace. They learned about what is required for a seed to germinate and a plant to thrive. We would like to again thank Greg Meade with Kentucky Farm Bureau of Paintsville for sponsoring Kentucky Department of Agriculture Mobile Science Activity Center. Our Panthers are enjoying the science enriched, engaging activities.

Today our Panthers enjoyed making Gluep that demonstrated to students that chains (polymers) behave in many interesting and surprising ways, depending on how the chains are made. They discussed science vocabulary which included monomer, polymer, states of matter, solid, liquid, gases, properties and much more science enriched vocabulary. We would like to thank the Mobile Science Activity Center for such engaging activities for our Panthers.

Students began enjoying our final week of summer camp with sand art for their enrichment activity.

We would like to thank Greg Meade and Kentucky Farm Bureau of Paintsville for funding the Mobile Science Activity Center. Our students will be participating in engaging science activities that support Kentucky Science Standards.

Today our Panthers began their first day of three enjoying the Kentucky Department of Agriculture Mobile Science Activity Center. Today's activity included a tour of the mobile science activity center with a Kentucky agricultural presentation around a specific commodity. It included I-pad interaction for the students , as well as an informative farm tour video.

Our Panther campers were enjoying our Friday field trip to playground at Dewey Dam that we forgot to take pictures. However we do have some pictures from Thursday that we want to make sure and share.

We want to thank our community partner City Bank along with Mrs. Theresa Hall for working with our panther campers on valuable daily life lessons dealing with the importance of savings.

Not only did our campers enjoy the nutritious activity with the Blender Bike but they also enjoyed other engaging activities today.
