🖤Board Member Appreciation Month 💛
At today’s Johnson County Board of Education meeting, CES Leader Brinley Williams had the honor of presenting Board Member Mr. PR Greer with a Golden Eagle Award! 🦅🏆
Mr. Greer is a true supporter of Johnson County Schools and Central Elementary — always showing up, encouraging our students and staff, and leading with pride in our community. We are grateful for the time, heart, and dedication he gives to help our schools continue to grow and succeed.
During Board Member Appreciation Month, we want to say a big THANK YOU to Mr. Greer and all of our board members for their service, leadership, and commitment to our students.

Today, we are distributing Chromebooks for students to take home in anticipation of the upcoming snow and ice storm. If your child is absent today, please make arrangements to pick up their Chromebook from the school. You may contact your child's teacher via email or Rooms communication, or call the school for assistance. Kindly inform us if you require a charger as well. The Chromebooks utilize a USB-C charger, which most households already have.
🌟 Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Penix! 🌟
This week, our Student Lighthouse Team chose to recognize Mrs. Penix for our Staff Spotlight — and we couldn’t agree more! 👏
Mrs. Penix goes above and beyond every single day. In addition to being an amazing teacher, she also coaches cheer and continues to volunteer her time after school to support students. Her dedication, energy, and heart for kids shines in everything she does.

So proud of the way our entire school family shows up for kids! 💛🖤

🌟 Staff Spotlight of the Week: Nurse Zabrina Hensley 🌟
Our Student Lighthouse Team selected Nurse Zabrina Hensley for this week’s Staff Spotlight — and we couldn’t agree more!
Students shared:
💬 “She’s busy tending to sickness, fixing scraped knees, is encouraging when you’re hurt or down, she is kind, and she makes me laugh when I’m sick.”
Nurse Zabrina, thank you for being the calm, caring, and cheerful presence our students can count on every single day. CES is blessed to have you! 🩺💛🖤

Let's support our JCHS Boys and Girls Basketball teams as they compete in the 2A State tourney this week. Go Eagles!

Huge shoutout to JCHS for providing an awesome opportunity for our CES A Team basketball players as we get ready for the county tournament! 🏀🔥
Our players had the chance to experience the Luxedo technology in the JCHS gym, and wow… it’s going to create an unforgettable light show intro that will be used for elementary teams during the tournament. The kids were pumped — and it made them feel like true champions stepping into the spotlight!
We are so thankful for the continued support and partnership from JCHS. This is exactly what More Opportunity looks like — giving our students experiences that build confidence, excitement, and pride. 🖤💛

What's for lunch next week? See our Lunch Leader's menu! (January 12-16)
