Eagles SOAR After School Programming
Dec. 9-12

CES Sixth Grade had a wonderful life experience giving presents and singing Christmas carols to the residents of Mountain Manor. We would like to thank everyone who donated items to make today a success. Please pass on kindness to someone else. Today was a blessing for us all!

On this Giving Tuesday 2024, our CES 6th graders visited and gifted items to the residents of our local nursing home. We are very proud of our students for preparing for and participating in this wonderful service learning project! Way to go, Eagles!

The Johnson county school district is closely monitoring the weather and road conditions. As of 9:30 pm, we are still on regular schedule. Roads are clear and safe. We will be back out very early in the morning to check for safety of travel. We are doing our best to be in school tomorrow, as it will be our students’ last day before Thanksgiving Break. We will post any changes, delays, or cancellations to our social media. Thank you and have a great evening- and go to bed kids, we plan to see you tomorrow!!!!

2024 CES 6th grade Conservation Essay winners are: Britton Wright, Cambrie Lafferty and Chloe Vanhoose. Congratulations 🎈

Mrs. Penix and Mrs. Vanhoose's fourth-grade Magnetic Reading groups engaged with a story about a teenager who invented a Braille machine using Legos. This sparked insightful discussions about Braille and the process through which students acquire Braille literacy. They extended an invitation to Mrs. Angela Hall, our district's visually impaired teacher, to demonstrate how students learn to read and write in Braille.

Come join us tonight to view our students' digital creations!

Addy Howell and Kennedy Vaughn, fourth-grade students, are engaged in multiplication exercises utilizing the matrix model.

Mrs. Vanhoose's kindergarteners and 1st graders made a foaming fountain in afterschool!

Central Elementary celebrated our veterans today. The 5th grade along with PTO, FRYSC, the kitchen, and the student lighthouse team sponsored a community service project for Veterans. They were served a delicious lunch and enjoyed a song from the 5th grade. We would like to thank all Veteran's for your service.

Mrs. Vanhoose's fourth-grade students participated in a brainstorming session to develop their class mission statement. They identified qualities and features of their ideal classroom and engaged in a discussion about the attributes of effective leaders. Through this collaborative effort, they successfully crafted their Class Mission Statement today.

Attention Veterans...please plan to join us at Central Elementary on Monday, November 11th at 12:30 p.m. for a special lunch in your honor!
