Huge thanks to Macy, Gemma, and Kyndal for putting together these amazing posts!

Mrs. Staniford’s ELA classes kicked off their first, "We Will Write Wednesday" with some friendly competition! Students were randomly placed into writing teams and challenged to respond to a prompt, then write as much as they could within the set time limit.
This weekly tradition is designed to build stamina, creativity, and confidence in writing, while also making the process fun and engaging. Enjoy a few of the responses our Eagles came up with!
Way to go, Eagles—your words are powerful! 💡📚🦅

How much sleep are 7th graders really getting? Mrs. Meade and Mrs. Patrick's Math 7A students are working together to create a human dot plot and analyze our class's sleep patterns. This is what hands-on data analysis looks like! 📈 🦅 #JCMSstrong #GoEagles

The Special Education G.O.A.T for the month of August is Mrs. Rhonda Howard! Mrs. Howard has been teaching in special education for 23 years. She is very dedicated and has one of the biggest hearts you'll ever find. We appreciate you Mrs Howard!!!

Agriculture classes continued their studies of breeds. Today they met Henry a 1.5 yr old Great Dane. They discussed the origin of the breed and their original purpose. They learned that the breed has changed over the years from selective breeding. They also learned what medical issues have become a problem due to some of these new characteristics.

A huge shout out to JCMS SRO, Jeremiah Prescott, for being the guest speaker in Mrs. Caudills Career Choices/Life Skills classes today! Thank you SRO Prescott for sharing your career story with us today!

More healthy competition in science with Mr. Conley and Mrs. Eddy

My class helped me design and set up the aquarium for our new pet. Stan is a Map Turtle and likes minnows and pellet food. He can swim for hours. We learned a lot about their natural habitat, and what to feed them.

📚✨ Marvelous Monday in Mrs. Spradlin’s Class! ✨📚
Today was full of learning and laughter!
In math, we dove into more guided notes and sharpened our skills with some Khan Academy practice 💻✏️ — exploring the world of decimals, fractions, and percents! 🧠➗💯
Then in Language Arts, we kicked off our novel study of Wonder by R.J. Palacio — and what a hit! 🎧📖 We followed along in our own copies while listening to the audiobook on YouTube. The kids couldn’t stop laughing at the book’s funniest moments — and neither could I! 😂💙
There’s truly nothing better than seeing students fall in love with reading. Watching them connect, laugh, and engage with a great story makes my teacher heart so happy! 🥰📚💫

Today, Mrs. Staniford’s ELA classes engaged in an in-depth analysis of song lyrics to identify various forms of figurative language. Students collaborated to highlight and examine how these literary devices enhance meaning, evoke emotion, and create vivid imagery within the text. Keep up the good work, Eagles! 🦅 📝 #JCMSStrong #Eagle4Life

To build reading stamina, Mrs. Preston's 8th Grade ELA students kicked off the school year with independent novels. These students visited the library to choose their books and they're practicing Sustained Silent Reading several times per week. There is nothing better than diving into a good book! 📖

Mrs. Caudills Career Choices/Life Skills classes enjoyed having a virtual guest speaker through Discovery Education's Career Connect! We learned about moving countries for a career and how changing careers can be a fun new experience! We now know interesting information about the hospitality industry and the banking industry!

The 8th Grade Engineering class held its inaugural Skimmer Championship on Friday! Huge congratulations to Kennley and TY for their outstanding performance!
